5.3: Passerby Mode (Privacy Lock)
- Activate: Press and hold the
# key for 10 seconds. The keypad will flash a red circle. All user codes will be disabled.
- Deactivate: Tap the fingerprint sensor (or enter
9999#) OR use the mechanical key. Note: The Master Code usually still works.
9. Battery & Emergency
Low Battery Warning
- Red LED flashes when unlocking.
- Voice: “Low battery, please replace.”
- After warning, the lock works for ~200 operations.
Part 8: Maintenance & Battery Life
- Battery Life: 8–12 months with 4x AA (depending on usage of auto-lock and backlight).
- Low Battery Warning: When you unlock, the lock will beep 10 times consecutively. Replace immediately.
- Cleaning: Do not use alcohol or oil lubricants (WD-40) on the keypad. Use a dry cloth. For the latch mechanism inside the door edge, use graphite powder once a year.
- Firmware: The Zeus Z3 is generally not user-updatable via OTA unless you have the WiFi Gateway accessory (sold separately).
Emergency access
- Use backup mechanical key to unlock from outside.
- If batteries fail completely, apply a 9V battery to external contacts near the bottom of the exterior unit to power electronics temporarily, then enter PIN.
- Mute (Silent Operation): Press
[ * ] + [ 6 ] + [ # ]. Enter Master Code + [ # ]. Press [ 3 ]. The lock will vibrate slightly but make no sound. Caution: You won't hear low-battery warnings.
- Low Volume: Press
[ * ] + [ 6 ] + [ # ] ... then [ 1 ].
- High Volume (Default): Same sequence, then
[ 2 ].
