- Healthcare disparities: Higher rates of HIV, mental health struggles, and barriers to gender-affirming care.
- Homelessness & employment: LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness; trans adults face double the unemployment rate of cis peers.
- Legislative attacks: In many regions, bills target trans youth (sports bans, healthcare bans, bathroom bills) and drag performance.
- Mental health: LGBTQ+ individuals have higher rates of depression and suicidality—but affirming families and communities dramatically reduce risk.
They spent the afternoon planning the upcoming "Pride Without Borders" gala. For them, LGBTQ culture wasn't just about a parade; it was about "Found Family"—a term for the bonds forged when biological ones faltered. They discussed how to be a better ally to the younger generation and how to ensure the center remained a safe space for those just beginning to explore their gender identity.
