: Changes the display and help menus to English across all Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.). Proofing Tools : Adds spelling and grammar checkers specific to English. Cross-Compatibility Example ODT XML (conceptual) to add en-US language
Before you start — quick checklist
Confirm your Office edition is Office 2016 (not Office 365 subscription features or Office 2013/2019).
Verify your Office is 64-bit: open any Office app → File → Account → About Word (or Excel) and check the bitness.
Ensure you have administrative rights on the PC.
Back up important documents (standard precaution).
Close all Office applications before installing.
Some components (e.g., InfoPath Forms Services, older add-ins) may assume a specific language and behave differently after language changes.
Proofing differences: Regional variants (en-US vs en-GB) have different spelling/grammar rules and hyphenation; select the appropriate locale.
UI element inconsistencies: If Office was originally installed in a different language and a partial language pack installation is performed, certain UI elements might remain in the original language until a full language pack is installed and windows cache is refreshed or the user profile restarted.
64-bit considerations: Certain COM add-ins or 32-bit-only binaries will not load into 64‑bit Office. Language pack installation does not change these compatibility constraints.
Language pack uninstall may leave registry keys or proofing entries; clean uninstalls require the correct uninstall procedure or MSI uninstall strings.
