ArcGIS 10.8 Installation Guide This guide outlines the standard procedure for installing ArcGIS Desktop 10.8 on a Windows machine. As of March 1, 2026

Step 8: Configure the Installation

1. Configure the installation settings, such as the installation location and the type of installation (Typical or Custom).
2. Click Install to start the installation process.

Step 2: Mount the Installation Media

1. Mount the downloaded ISO file as a virtual drive on your computer.
2. If you are using Windows 10, you can right-click on the ISO file and select Mount.

Option A: My Esri Portal (For License Holders)

1. Log into My Esri.
2. Navigate to My Organizations > Downloads.
3. Filter by product: ArcGIS Desktop.
4. Select ArcGIS Desktop 10.8 (or 10.8.1 if available).
5. Download the ISO file or the executable. The file is typically around 1.2 GB.

Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly

Cause: Corrupt .NET Framework or VC++ Redistributables. Fix: Complete Process : Click Install

Then, at 83%, the screen flickered. The cursor turned into a spinning blue circle of doom. A dialog box appeared: Error 1606. Could not access network location %APPDATA%\ESRI\Desktop10.8.

1. Run .NET Framework Repair Tool from Microsoft.
2. Uninstall all Visual C++ Redistributables (2005 through 2019), then reinstall them from Microsoft’s website.
