⚠️ Important: A firmware reset will clear network settings (WiFi/Wired), admin passwords, and may revert the printer to an older firmware state if you use the downgrade method. It will not reset the page counter (toner usage).
- Download an older firmware file from a trusted archive (e.g.,
ML-2160_v3.00.00.34.exeor similar). - Connect printer via USB only.
- Run the firmware updater.
- During update, it will often ask “Reset to factory defaults?” – select Yes.
- Complete the downgrade.
- Printer will restart with original firmware + factory settings.
- Turn on the printer.
- When the printer is initializing (during the self-test), press and hold the
Cancelbutton. - While holding the
Cancelbutton, press and release theOKbutton. - Release the
Cancelbutton.
- Turn off printer, unplug, wait 30 seconds.
- Plug in but do not power on.
- Press and hold Power + Cancel + WPS buttons simultaneously.
- Keep holding for 15–20 seconds.
- Release all buttons. Printer should power on and reset.
