Deploying the Cisco CSR 1000v: A Guide to the OVA Installation

Step 2: Deploy in vCenter or ESXi

  1. In vSphere Client, go to File > Deploy OVF Template.
  2. Select the local OVA file.
  3. Name your VM (e.g., CSR1000v-Branch-1).
  4. Choose compute resource (cluster/host).
  5. Review details and click Next.
  6. Important: Select the correct disk provisioning:

    Step 4: Power On and Initial Access

    1. Power on the VM.
    2. Access the console via vSphere’s remote console.
    3. The CSR1000v will boot IOS XE. Default credentials? There is no default username/password on a fresh OVA. You must break the boot process (Ctrl+C) or use the day0 configuration feature.
