Introduction to HD Doom Animations
- Status Bar Face: Like classic Doomguy, your HUD face changes. But here, it reacts to lust and fear meters, with animated blinks, sweat drops, and flushed cheeks.
- Mugshot Wounds: As your health drops, your character sprite shows progressive "battle damage" (ripped clothing, bruises) with subtle looping idle animations.
- Power-up Idles: When you pick up a "Soulsphere" equivalent (renamed "Essence"), your weapon sprite pulses and drips with animated neon fluid.
3. Animation Types and Techniques
- Frame-by-frame (classic):
- Doom source ports: Modified versions of the original game's engine that allow for enhanced graphics, including HD textures and models.
- Remakes and remasters: New versions of the game that feature updated graphics, sound, and gameplay.
- Community projects: Fan-made creations, such as mods, animations, and artwork.
- PNG-based sprites (truecolor with alpha).
- Normal/specular maps: pairs of images (sprite + normal) for dynamic lighting.
- Multi-layer sprites: base, glow, normal, detail layers blended in-engine.
