The Production Design: This is the best part of the movie. The glass house, with its sliding Latin-inscribed metal walls, is a marvel of set design. It feels claustrophobic, futuristic, and gothic all at once.
The Ghosts: The makeup and practical effects used to create the 12 ghosts are incredible. Each ghost has a deeply tragic and terrifying backstory (which is briefly explained in special features). Standouts include The Juggernaut (a massive brute) and The Jackal.
Matthew Lillard: As psychic Dennis Rafkin, Lillard steals the show. He perfectly balances comic relief with genuine terror and brings a lot of heart to the film.
